Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s musical is based on the 60’s film which starred Hayley Mills. Somewhat bizarrely though the original story was set in Sussex, Lloyd Webber has moved the setting to America’s Bible belt. However the story stays the same. A young girl finds a man in her father’s barn who exclaims “Jesus Christ” when she asks who he is. The children then hide the man they think of as Jesus. Reports says that Claire Marlowe as Swallow, has a pure sweet voice, complemented by the other children in the cast. Lloyd Webber’s music ranges from the hymnal to rock, to the sweetness of the title song by Swallow. It will, of course, be very popular again. Booking only to early june at the Palace, I believe.
