Evita originally opened at the West End's Prince Edward theatre in 1978, where it went on to run for seven years. Elaine Page, who first sang the part of Eva Peron is reported in the Sunday Mail as not seeing why there is a need for another reprise of Evita – but perhaps she is jealous of being further eclipsed.
